The Highest Valuations Ever Pitched on Shark Tank

Founders who walked in claiming their companies were worth $10 million or more, ranked by sought valuation, with how each pitch ended.

A founder can walk into the Tank with a folding table, a prototype, and a number so big it makes the sharks laugh out loud. That number is the valuation, and it tells you what the founder thinks the whole company is worth before a single dollar of shark money lands. Most pitches keep it modest. The ones collected here did the opposite. Each of these 159 founders strolled in claiming their business was worth at least $10 million, and some pushed the figure into territory that would make a Silicon Valley venture capitalist raise an eyebrow.

Why does this matter if you are watching as a fan, or studying the show to understand how deals actually work? Because the valuation is the single most contested number in the room. Sharks rarely argue about whether a product is good. They argue about whether the founder has priced the company in a way that leaves them any upside. A high ask is a bet, and watching how that bet plays out is one of the most reliable ways to learn what investors actually pay for.

The asks that broke the ceiling

The biggest swing in this group belongs to Over EZ Chicken Coop, which sought a $100 million valuation in season 13. That is not a typo. The founders valued a backyard chicken coop business at nine figures, and they left with no deal. It is a clean example of what happens when the number in your head has drifted far from the number anyone else will sign.

Right behind it sit two season 12 pitches that both asked for a $50 million valuation. Larq, the self-cleaning water bottle, got there and walked out with a deal from Lori Greiner and Kevin O'Leary. Project Pollo, a plant-based fast food chain, asked for the same $50 million in season 13 and got nothing. Same headline number, completely different outcome. The difference was never the ambition. It was whether the rest of the business backed up the price.

High valuation does not mean rejection

It would be easy to assume the sharks punish every founder who aims high. The pattern in this list says otherwise. Chirp, the back-stretching device, sought a $45 million valuation in season 12 and closed a deal with Lori Greiner. Cup Bop, the Korean rice bowl chain, asked for a $33.3 million valuation in season 13 and landed Mark Cuban. Both of those are real businesses with real revenue behind the number, and the sharks were willing to meet them closer to where they stood.

Contrast that with Nootrobox, which sought a $40 million valuation back in season 8 and got no deal. The throughline is consistency. A founder who can defend a big valuation with sales, margins, and a clear path forward tends to get a hearing. A founder who is anchoring high and hoping the room flinches tends to walk out empty-handed. The valuation is just the opening move. What follows it decides everything.

How to read a sky-high ask as a viewer

If you want to use these pitches to sharpen your own instincts, treat the valuation as a question rather than a verdict. When you hear a founder claim $50 million, the useful follow-up is the one the sharks ask every time. What were sales last year? What is the profit on each unit? Is the founder asking for a small slice of equity, like the 6.25 percent or 10 percent stakes you see attached to the deals that actually closed, or are they protecting a number that the business cannot support yet?

There is also a practical lesson here for anyone who sells anything, even outside the world of startups. The price you ask for is a story about value, and the audience decides whether to believe it. Larq and Chirp told a story their numbers could carry. Over EZ and Project Pollo told one their numbers could not. Watching where that line falls, deal after deal, teaches you more about negotiation than any single shark soundbite ever will.

So when you scroll the full list below and see 159 founders who all claimed eight figures or more, do not read it as a hall of fame or a hall of shame. Read it as a spectrum. Some of these companies grew into the valuation they claimed. Some never came close. The fun, and the education, is in figuring out which is which before the sharks tell you.
