Is Solsource Still in Business? (2026 Update)
Is Solsource from Shark Tank still around in 2026? The deal it made, the sharks who invested, and where to buy Solsource today.
A grill that cooks your dinner using nothing but sunlight sounds almost too clever to be real. SolSource made it real, parked it on the Shark Tank stage, and walked out with a deal from the toughest negotiator in the room. So the obvious question in 2026 is simple: can you still buy one?
The Short Answer
No. As best anyone can tell, SolSource is no longer selling its solar grill. The product appears to be off the market, the consumer website is down, and the grills are not available on Amazon either.
If you were hoping to fire up a sun-powered cookout this summer, you will need to look at other brands. SolSource the consumer product is effectively retired.
The Pitch and the Deal
SolSource came from One Earth Designs, founded by Dr. Catlin Powers, and the idea grew out of work on clean cooking solutions for communities without reliable energy. The parabolic dish concentrates sunlight to reach grilling temperatures fast, with no propane, no charcoal, and no smoke.
On Season 9, Episode 22, the company asked for $500,000 in exchange for 3 percent equity. Mark Cuban liked the mission and the technology enough to offer $500,000 for 4 percent, and a handshake deal was reached on air. As often happens after the cameras stop rolling, the on-air agreement did not translate into a finalized investment.
Where It Is Now
The consumer side of the business wound down around the end of 2019. The One Earth Designs storefront is no longer operating, and the SolSource grills that once shipped to backyard chefs and off-grid enthusiasts are not being restocked.
The company framed its decision as a shift in focus rather than a flat-out failure. Leadership signaled a move toward mission-driven and non-profit style work, continuing research into solar cooking and clean energy with global partners rather than chasing retail sales.
For shoppers in 2026, that means there is no official channel to buy a new SolSource. You may occasionally spot a used unit on a secondhand marketplace, but there is no manufacturer support, no warranty, and no guarantee of replacement parts behind it.
The Bottom Line
SolSource is one of those Shark Tank stories where the technology was genuinely impressive and the deal was real, yet the consumer product still did not survive long term. The grill worked, the mission mattered, and the company simply chose a different road.
If solar cooking still appeals to you, the category lives on through other parabolic and panel-style cookers. SolSource itself, though, belongs to the list of Shark Tank products you can admire in reruns but can no longer add to your cart.
