Yes. Oru Kayak is still selling folding kayaks through its official store. The catalog has boats, accessories and replacement parts. If you remember the kayak that unfolded from a box on Shark Tank, the buying question now is which model suits your paddling and storage needs.

Oru appeared in Season 5, Episode 28, which aired May 9, 2014. Its team asked for $500,000 for 12% and accepted Robert Herjavec's on-air offer of $500,000 for 25%.

Later reporting says the agreement did not close after filming. The offer should therefore be described as an on-air agreement, rather than as proof that Herjavec supplied the company's capital.

Who owns Oru Kayak?

Solo Brands publicly listed Oru among its brands in its October 4, 2021 IPO announcement. Its August 13, 2026 earnings release still includes Oru in the Watersports segment, alongside ISLE. Oru is therefore part of that larger outdoor-products group, rather than simply the independent startup viewers saw in 2014.

A factory closure is part of the 2026 update

Solo Brands' second-quarter 2026 earnings release reports a raw-material inventory write-off related to closing Oru's manufacturing facility. The same release continues to describe Oru as a brand in its portfolio, and the official Oru site still offers kayaks for sale.

The facility closure is a real operational change, but the evidence does not support treating it as closure of the whole brand. It also does not establish that any particular model is available for immediate delivery; check the boat you want before planning a trip around it.

Choosing and buying a folding kayak

The attraction remains storage and transport: an Oru packs down into a box instead of requiring space for a full-length rigid hull. Oru sells several models, so compare the selected boat's capacity, packed dimensions and intended water conditions. A compact recreational model and a larger touring boat do not serve the same outing.
