The full story

Everything to know about Vulcan Pest

Vulcan Pest turns an ordinary bucket into a trap that can keep working after its first catch. A rodent climbs the ramp toward the bait, steps past the platform's pivot point and drops into the bucket. The platform then returns to position.

Founder Ian Oki Fleming developed the idea after dealing with a rat problem in the Santa Cruz Mountains. His design focuses on rats and other mid-sized rodents, with a training mode that lets them get used to the platform before trapping begins. It uses no poison, and the bucket can be prepared for live capture or lethal trapping.

Where Vulcan Pest is now

On October 29, 2026, Vulcan's official store was running a 48-hour Shark Tank promotion. Customers could order the same reusable bucket-lid trap shown in the episode, with single-unit and bundle options.

Where to buy Vulcan Pest

Vulcan sells single traps and multi-trap bundles through its own online store. The bucket is not included. You'll need a standard five- or seven-gallon hardware-store bucket; the company recommends seven gallons for squirrels. The product page specifically says it is not intended for mice. Check that distinction before ordering for a small-rodent problem. The store lists free shipping to the contiguous United States.
