The full story

Everything to know about Hackees Lacrosse

Hackees puts padding on the lacrosse stick so a casual game is easier to organize in the backyard or at the beach. Charlie Patterson, Philip Toran and Anthony Phalen built the company around that kind of pickup play.

The sticks have full-sized, hand-strung heads and flexible handles. A standard Hackees stick is about 34.5 inches long, placing it between a small novelty stick and typical competitive equipment. Players can practice passing, dodging and defending during a recreational game, using a stick designed to soften incidental contact.

Where Hackees Lacrosse is now

In October 2026, the National Lacrosse League announced plans to provide 50 Hackees sticks, plus goals and other equipment, for an October 24 clinic in Baltimore. The equipment was intended to remain with Volo Baltimore for future sessions. Alongside individual sales, Hackees offers volume orders for schools, teams and leagues buying ten or more sticks.

Where to buy Hackees Lacrosse

Hackees sells directly through its website. Classic colorways were listed at $39 each on October 29, 2026, with a mini-ball included. The range also includes special editions, goalie and long-pole versions, portable goals and bundles. For a group, compare the bundle contents with the number of people playing so everyone has a stick. The company recommends its sticks for ages six and up. Its safety guidance calls for controlled checks below shoulder level, playing the stick and ball rather than the body, and avoiding windups. Padding does not turn a pickup game into unrestricted contact play. If a goalie is using a regulation-sized goal, the company calls for protective gear, including a helmet with face protection.
