The full story
Everything to know about Pup Stack
Pup Stack is a portable anchor designed to keep a small dog nearby while you supervise. It combines a weighted base with a retractable tie-out line, storage and two removable bowls, bringing several things you might pack for an outing into one unit.
How Pup Stack works
The line extends up to 20 feet, and a dial lets you lock it at a shorter length. That means you can set the space around the dog rather than use the full line every time. The unit rotates through 360 degrees, a feature the company designed to reduce tangles as the dog changes direction.
A compartment holds small supplies such as treats, waste bags and toys. The removable bowls provide somewhere to put food and water when you're away from home, so those supplies can travel with the anchor.
The family dog behind the idea
Brian Zibricky says the idea for Pup Stack grew out of life with Cooper, the dog his family brought home in December 2019. Their yard wasn't fully fenced, and Brian wanted Cooper to join them on the concrete patio and on trips without holding a leash the whole time.
Storage was originally going to be an optional extra. Brian says feedback from other dog owners persuaded him to include it with every Pup Stack, making the compartment part of the finished product.
Choosing the weight and using the line
The standard unit includes a 10-pound base plate and weighs a little over 13 pounds in total, according to the company. Its recommendation for dogs up to 40 pounds refers to the dog's weight. Larger dogs within that range require extra plates: the guide lists no extra plate for most dogs weighing 1–12 pounds, one for 13–22 pounds, two for 23–32 pounds and three for 33–40 pounds. The company qualifies those bands because age, activity and temperament vary.
Pup Stack's instructions require supervision and level ground clear of obstructions. They recommend attaching the line to a harness rather than a collar. Before releasing the locking dial, disconnect the dog and hold the connector so you can control the retracting line. The FAQ describes indoor use as temporary, such as while bringing in groceries or cleaning, and says it isn't intended for long periods indoors.
